The Divine Conspiracy
I’m afraid that if I surrender everything
I’ll have to choose between Africa and India
Or face the fishes like a stubborn Jonah;
That if I make God’s will my will
He’ll go changing my perspective,
Trick me into marrying a tuba
With a beautiful heart; that one day
I’ll wake with a start, next to the oompah,
In Africa or India, and be happy in my sorry state!
I like my America! I like a woman’s shape!
